• Mission Statement

The mission of the Alameda County Early Care and Education Planning Council is to assess, represent, and advance early care and education needs of children, their families, and early educators in Alameda County, through community collaboration, leadership, and advocacy.

    Vision Statement

The Alameda County Early Care and Education Planning Council envisions an early care and education system that is valued and well-resourced and embraces the full diversity of Alameda County so children, families, and early educators thrive.

    Equity Statement

The Alameda County Early Care and Education Planning Council (ACECEPC) works to uplift and advance the well-being of all its early learning and care constituents. Many Alameda County communities are adversely impacted by marginalization, denied access to support, and continue to endure inequitable distribution of resources due to systemic racism and discrimination. We aim to rectify these systemic inequities in the early learning and care ecosystem by:

    • Advocating for racially just policies and fiscal allocation of resources for our historically excluded, underserved, and under-resourced communities.

    • Using a strengths and assets-based approach that disrupts deficit thinking and deficit narratives.

    • Centering the voices, perspectives, and wishes of all families and providers in our work and decision-making, especially families and providers most impacted by systemic inequities.

    Values

    • Disrupt inequity and celebrate the diversity of Alameda County

    • Uplift and respect all voices, perspectives, and experiences

    • Recognize that children, families, and child care professionals need to be healthy, safe, and well-supported in and out of the classroom in order to thrive

    • Advance strategies that recognize all parts of the early care and education community are equally important

    • Engage in innovative and courageous leadership

    • Hold ourselves and each other accountable and are transparent and accessible
